WRV 1977 AUTOMATIQUE ECLIPSE

A Unique Astronomical Phenomenon

A solar eclipse is a rare event that occurs when the Moon is perfectly aligned between the Earth and the Sun, partially or totally obscuring the latter. This phenomenon only occurs during a new Moon, when the Moon and Sun are in conjunction in relation to the Earth. The latest total eclipse, on 2 July 2019, visible in South America, offered a fascinating spectacle lasting less than three minutes, during which the sky changed tone and colour under the lunar shadow.

Inspiration captured on a dial

RALF TECH has chosen to transpose this unique atmosphere onto one of its emblematic models: the WRV Automatique 1977. Following the success of the ‘Royale’ version, which pays tribute to the uniforms of the French Navy, the brand is now unveiling the WRV Automatique 1977 ‘Eclipse’. Produced in a limited edition of 77 pieces, its distinctive feature is a dial whose hue changes from golden brown to black depending on the ambient light, evoking the gradual transition of a solar eclipse. This play of colours is enhanced by indexes in ‘2N18’ gold, a refined alloy combining yellow gold, silver and copper.

Technicity and Elegance Combined

Faithful to the codes of the collection, the WRV Automatique 1977 ‘Eclipse’ retains its crown positioned at 4 o’clock, an ergonomic choice that protects the crown while enhancing comfort on the wrist. Water-resistant to 200 metres and conforming to the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches, it comes with a Barenia calfskin strap hand-stitched in the French Jura. For absolute versatility, it also comes with a silicone strap, ideal for sporting activities.
